NEW YORK (AP) ? A New York Public Library exhibition features a group of works that showcases the extraordinary printmaking skills of American artist Mary Cassatt.
"Daring Methods: The Prints of Mary Cassatt" opens Friday. It marks first showing of 88 prints that a Manhattan art dealer donated to it in 1900.
The exhibition begins with Cassatt's first tentative attempts in 1878 and ends with her dazzling color prints in 1898.
Cassatt was the lone American among the French impressionists of the late 1800s. She is celebrated mostly for her oil paintings of mothers and children.
