Glad you're interested! And despite being listed as extras, they can be pretty important.

Think of senior as a slighty senile, yet wise Doc Brown/Obi Wan type character. He's been around for ages, even being a sentinel type hero in the 40's, or more simply the 'golden age,' making the sentinel name a legacy, and himself at the root of the family tree.

Sulu is both comic relief and a major character due to his ages old friendship with young sentinel, his loyalty comparable to the likes of Hachiko, being willing to lay down his life for the entire sentinel family by loyalty alone. He is also powerful due to his olfactory senses being on a level of near cosmic awareness, and the fact he doesn't know how to hold back his full power that well.
